Howard & Howard Welcomes Intellectual Property Associate

ROYAL OAK, Mich., June 23, 2021 – Howard & Howard is pleased to welcome Daniel A. Balavitch. He began his career with Howard & Howard in 2016 as an intern in Howard & Howard’s Intellectual Property Intern Program. He will practice out of the firm’s Royal Oak, Michigan office.

Daniel focuses his practice on global patent preparation and prosecution, clearance/freedom-to-operate analyses, and invalidity studies of competitors' patents. He works primarily in the electromechanical and chemical arts, particularly for automotive and medical clients. Daniel has automotive patent experience with turbochargers, variable camshaft timing phasers, transmission technologies, and hybrid-electric powertrain systems and component architectures. He also has medical patent experience with ENT surgical drills and instruments.

Prior to joining Howard & Howard, he gained valuable experience as a plastics engineering intern at Uniform Color Company. There, he worked with a multitude of thermoplastic and engineering resins, including styrenics, nylons, acrylics, polycarbonates, and polyolefins, and gained experience with injection molding machines and screw extruders.

In 2020, Daniel received his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and his B.S. in chemical engineering from Michigan State University in 2016.
