icon on Chicago, Ill., May 31, 2022 – Howard & Howard, a full-service leading business law firm, is pleased to welcome Kevin Shortsle to the firm. Shortsle joins the Intellectual Property (IP) Law Group, expanding Howard & Howard’s IP presence in its Chicago office.
Shortsle is an experienced trial and patent attorney, focusing his practice on a variety of patent work in life sciences and chemical technologies. He represents clients in high stakes patent litigation cases involving difficult pharmaceutical, chemical, and medical device technologies, assisting clients in all stages of patent litigation, from pre-filing investigations through trial and appeal processes. He also conducts due diligence investigations, prepares and negotiates licensing agreements, and develops IP portfolios. His recent representations include treatments for schizophrenia, cell therapies, and a wide range of injectable formulations.
Prior to joining Howard & Howard, Shortsle was a partner at international and national law firms in Chicago. Prior to and during law school, he worked as a patent analyst at Abbott Laboratories and served as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark office.

Shortsle received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
