ROYAL OAK, Mich., September 5, 2019 – Howard & Howard is pleased to announce that attorney W. West Allen has been elected to serve as president-elect of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) for the 2019-2020 term. Allen will be sworn in at the organization’s 2019 annual meeting and convention in early September. He will serve as National President of the FBA for the 2020-2021 term.
Allen is a partner at Howard & Howard in Las Vegas. As a federal court intellectual property litigator, he represents an international clientele in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and related matters.
His involvement with the FBA spans 20 years, where he has served in various leadership positions, including: president of the Nevada Chapter of the FBA (2000-2001); co-chair of the 2006 FBA Annual Meeting and Convention; chair of the Circuit Vice Presidents (2009-2011); member of the National Board of Directors (2011-2018); chair of the National Government Relations Committee (2012-2018); and FBA National Treasurer (2018-2019).
Allen has been named to Mountain States Super Lawyers (2014-2019), Super Lawyers Top 100 Mountain States Lawyers (2014; 2018-2019) and recognized by The Best Lawyers in America© (2013-2020). Allen has also been selected to Managing IP magazine’s “IP Stars” and Nevada Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite” (2016-2019).
In addition, Allen volunteers and serves on the foundation board for Las Vegas-based charity Opportunity Village (a provider of educational and occupational services for people with intellectual disabilities). He has served as a volunteer teacher, counselor, and director with various youth organizations, including Humanitarian Experience for Youth (HEFY), which organizes humanitarian programs for youths to serve around the world.
Allen is a graduate of Brigham Young University and The John Marshall Law School-Chicago.
