Our client, a manufacturing company specializing in paint process equipment for automotive robots, had been the sole source for critical components for over 25 years based on quality and delivery.
In 2021, as the company prepared for a private equity sale, its CEO secretly began planning a competing business targeting the company’s largest customer. He withheld key information, accessed confidential documents, and used proprietary data to replicate parts, all while negotiations for a $34 million acquisition were underway. When his actions came to light, the deal collapsed.
After a 13-day trial, our litigation team proved damages of $25.6 million and secured a unanimous jury verdict for the full amount. The jury found the former CEO liable for usurpation of corporate opportunity, silent fraud, and tortious interference.
Congratulations to our Howard & Howard litigation team for successfully protecting our client’s interests and achieving this outstanding result.
