Howard & Howard Expands Las Vegas Office

Royal Oak, Michigan, January 22, 2014: Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC is pleased to announce that Matthew J. Kreutzer and Jay Young have joined the firm. They will both practice out of the firm’s Las Vegas Office.

Matthew J. Kreutzer concentrates his practice in franchising, with an emphasis in transactional franchise law and franchise litigation. He has spent more than 15 years working with individuals and companies on issues relating to the franchise relationship.
Experienced in all facets of franchise law, Mr. Kreutzer assists both start-up and mature franchisors with developing, protecting and licensing their franchise and distribution systems. As part of this practice, he counsels companies regarding the laws and regulations pertaining to franchising nationwide and assists them in creating their contracts, Franchise Disclosure Documents, and other critical operational documents. He also responds to state administrative inquires and investigations, and obtains exemptions and interpretive opinions from regulatory agencies. With his background in franchise litigation, Mr. Kreutzer understands the risks inherent in the relationship and works with his clients to limit those risks so that those franchisors can focus on brand and system growth.
Mr. Kreutzer received his B.A., cum laude, from The American University in 1995 and his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in 1998. He is a certified specialist in Franchise and Distribution Law by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization and a member of the California Franchise Law Committee and the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising. Mr. Kreutzer is an AV® Peer-Review Rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell and was named a “Super Lawyer” in 2013 and a “Rising Star” in 2012 by Mountain States Super Lawyers. He was honored as a “Legal Eagle” by Franchise Times magazine in 2013, and as one of the “40 Under 40” by In Business Las Vegas in 2010. He is licensed to practice in the States of Nevada, California and Maryland.
Jay Young concentrates his practice in general civil and commercial/business litigation, as well as serving as a private arbitrator and mediator. He has handled a wide variety of cases in many areas of the law, including: attorney malpractice; banking; bankruptcy litigation; breach of contract; business breakups; collections; class action suits; construction; contract disputes; employment agreements; employment disputes; embezzlement; franchise agreements; fraud; fraudulent transfers; guaranties; incorporation issues; injunctive relief; interference with contracts; leases (commercial and residential); mechanic's liens; patent infringement; personal injury; promissory notes; quiet title; real estate; restrictive covenants; security agreements; shareholder derivative suits; shareholder disputes; trade secrets enforcement; trademark enforcement; unlawful detainer; unfair competition; and unfair trade practice.
Mr. Young serves as a Judge, a Special Master, and as an Arbitrator. He is a Judge Pro Tem with the City of Henderson, Nevada Municipal Court and has been appointed as a Special Master to the Business Court Division of the Eighth Judicial District Court, Clark County, Nevada. Mr. Young is also an Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association (National Panel), the Better Business Bureau, and with the 8th Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada, having been appointed by the Nevada Supreme Court. Mr. Young has been appointed an Arbitrator in well over 200 business ownership, contract, personal injury, and real estate disputes. Additionally, he holds a 36 hour ADR certificate and is a mediator of business disputes.
Mr. Young is only the second attorney in the State of Nevada to be given the prestigious 'Master Advocate' designation by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, recognizing his skills as a litigator and as a teacher of trial and oral advocacy skills to other attorneys. These skills have lead him to become a recognized author of books teaching other attorneys how to refine their legal practice.
Mr. Young received his B.A. from Brigham Young University in 1991 and his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1994. He is an AV® Preeminent™ Peer-Review Rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell in the Litigation, Commercial Law, and Business Law categories, and is licensed to practice in the State of Nevada.
