Joelle is a seasoned litigator and trusted advisor who represents businesses, financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, and professionals in complex commercial disputes, regulatory matters, investigations, and employment-related issues. With more than a decade of experience, Joelle handles a broad range of matters involving commercial litigation, banking and financial services disputes, employment law, fiduciary and business tort claims, securities-related matters, and regulatory enforcement actions. She has represented clients in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and investigations involving government and regulatory agencies, providing strategic counsel through all stages of a dispute.
In addition to her litigation practice, Joelle advises organizations on risk management, compliance, internal investigations, and workplace issues. - Served as lead counsel in multiple FINRA arbitration matters in disputes interpreting non-compete and non-solicitation agreements.
- Successfully obtained summary judgment on behalf of a national banking association, its parent corporation, and bank executive in the Circuit Court of Cook County.
- Successfully recovered over $400,000 for broker-dealer client from their prior law firm in fee dispute.
- Conducted investigation involving the separation of hedge fund executives and negotiate disputed provisions of employment agreement.
- Investigated and litigated matters involving fiduciary and business tort issues, including $30M sale of waste treatment facility.
- First chaired preferential adversary proceeding in Chapter 11 liquidation of $4M organization.
- Served as lead attorney for $150M antitrust investigation and Federal Trade Commission enforcement action regarding sale of medical alert devices (ultimately settled).
- Successfully appealed the improper exercise of an option to purchase commercial property upon denial of a temporary restraining order.
- Achieved favorable outcomes in wrongful death (7th Circuit) and medical device (Northern District of Illinois) cases.
