Royal Oak, Mich., April 9, 2020 – Lenny Sachs, a partner at Howard & Howard, was selected for the 2020 Distinguished Community Service Award by the Peoria County Bar Association (PCBA). Sachs, who leads the Labor and Employment Group at Howard & Howard, accepted the award at the association’s 112th annual Lincoln Memorial Banquet in late February.
The PCBA Distinguished Community Service Award was established in 1995 to recognize one of its members each year whose record of longtime community volunteerism is exemplary and brings honor to the Peoria area and the association.
“Lenny is not only generous financially but has also been generous with his time working with numerous charitable organizations such as United Way, Red Cross and Prairie States Legal Services to improve their operations and fund-raising,” said PCBA President Michael Gifford, in presenting the award to Sachs.
Sachs has served on the board of directors of the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross and is a former chair of its Clara Barton Society. He has served multiple terms on the board of the Heart of Illinois United Way where, for many years, he chaired the Legal Services Division for the United Way Campaign Cabinet.
He has twice served as co-chair of the United Way Tocqueville Society and was named its 2012 Philanthropist of the Year. Sachs has served on the Foundation Board of the Friends of the Children of Haiti and most recently served on the national board of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. He currently serves on the board of Prairie State Legal Services.
In addition, Sachs is chairman emeritus of the Allocation Committee for Howard & Howard’s Community Reinvestment Fund, an employee-funded, donor-advised trust that has donated nearly $6 million to charitable organizations since its founding in 1986.
