He focuses his practice on obtaining intellectual property rights, conducting due diligence for technology-related transactions, and preparing opinions of non-infringement and invalidity.
Mr. English regularly advises clients on transactions involving intellectual property, including mergers, stock purchases, asset purchases, and licensing transactions. He helps his clients identify opportunities for building intellectual property value before and after closing.
Mr. English’s clients range from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies in a variety of technologies. He has worked with surgical robotics, EEG monitors, radio frequency ablation devices, bone cements, drug delivery devices, surgical instrumentation, kinetic spray coatings, electronic pedal assemblies, automotive shifters, foodstuffs, LP gas systems, building products, and business methods. He counsels his clients in the United States and abroad.
Mr. English received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law. He is licensed to practice in the State of Michigan and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to entering the legal field, he was a consulting engineer at Triad Engineering and at Lawson-Fisher Associates, both in South Bend, Indiana.
