Mr. Woolbright concentrates his practice on intellectual property law for clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations.
He focuses his practice on intellectual property procurement, technology-related transactions, and opinion preparation, with an emphasis on patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law.
Mr. Woolbright regularly advises clients on transactions involving intellectual property, including mergers, stock purchases, asset purchases, and licensing transactions. He scrutinizes every aspect of the transaction and centers his attention on creative ways to build value after closing.
Mr. Woolbright also has experience with the European legal system. While in London, England, he learned much about European patent practice, from the European Patent Office to the diversity of laws among the European national systems. Mr. Woolbright’s knowledge of the European legal system enables him to counsel both European and U.S. clients on a full-range of issues and to build solutions tailored to the needs of companies with a global presence.
Mr. Woolbright's technical experience includes medical devices and technology, industrial manufacturing, materials science, agricultural science, chemistry and chemical engineering, mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies, and software.
Mr. Woolbright received his B.S., cum laude, in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review. Mr. Woolbright enjoys writing and presenting on a wide variety of intellectual property topics, has been published by Law 360, IP Frontline, and the AIPLA for his scholarship on intellectual property issues.
