Maria is an experienced employee benefits attorney who advises clients on the many requirements of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Internal Revenue Code, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Maria practices heavily in healthcare compliance to ensure clients do not run afoul of any of the referenced laws, while also preserving clients' business interests. Maria advises clients on impermissible benefit changes, as well as ensuring all required documentation is dispersed and filed as required by law. Maria is also well versed in drafting plan and trust documents, summary plan descriptions, plan notices and participant communications.
