Jake is a member of the firm’s Business & Corporate Law Group, where he regularly counsels closely held and publicly traded entities on complex matters including corporate transactions, business and tax compliance reporting and filing obligations under international, federal, state, and local regimes, qualification determinations for and claiming of federal tax credits and incentives, audit defense against tax authorities, filing bad debt refund claims, conducting reverse tax audits, structuring specialty asset purchases, and implications related to various financial instruments. 

Jake has a wide array of experience in transactional matters with a particular focus on the tax planning opportunities and resultant tax consequences related to mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, enterprise restructuring, and choice of entity as related to organizational framework planning.

Jake advises clients operating across numerous industries including manufacturing, construction, hospitality, retail, healthcare, telecommunications, utilities, alternative energy, emerging technologies, financial institutions, investment funds, and private equity.

Prior to joining Howard & Howard, Jake served as a tax consultant for a large international CPA firm working regularly with Fortune 500 companies to address their business needs.
