Ms. Ernst concentrates her practice in a variety of corporate tax matters.
She advises clients on planning, transactional, and compliance issues relating to income and franchise taxes and has experience working with public and private companies throughout the country and internationally.
Prior to joining Howard & Howard, Ms. Ernst was a senior manager at a large public accounting firm where she focused primarily on corporate tax planning, business incentives and cost reduction strategies. She focused her efforts largely in the manufacturing, automotive, energy and utilities, engineering and construction, biomedical, software development and software as a service industries. Ms. Ernst has extensive background in the areas of federal and state tax credits, domestic manufacturing deductions, and accelerated cost recovery. She also has experience assisting domestic and foreign companies in securing state and local statutory and negotiated incentives related to expansion and/or relocation. She has successfully represented public and private companies in tax examinations with the Internal Revenue Service and various state revenue agencies.
Ms. Ernst received her M.S. in Taxation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013, her J.D. from Boston College Law School in 2005 and her B.A. from Kent State University in 2001. Ms. Ernst is licensed to practice in Illinois.
