Mr. Leonowicz concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate law, health care law, cannabis law and business transactions.
Drawing on his litigation background, Mr.
Leonowicz provides counsel for entrepreneurs as well as established enterprises,
advising them on all aspects of corporate, business, commercial, contract,
finance, employment and real estate matters. He also represents numerous entrepreneurs and
business entities in the complex and ever-changing cannabis industry.
Mr. Leonowicz’s diverse range of
transactional experience includes licensing; organization of businesses
(limited liability company, partnership and corporation), including
shareholder, partnership and operating agreements; mergers; acquisitions; financing
and leasing of commercial properties; asset/stock sales; and a variety of contracts.
Prior to joining Howard & Howard, Mr.
Leonowicz clerked at the Michigan Oakland County Circuit Court for Judge
Shalina Kumar. He is also the President
and Founder of the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Bar Association.
Mr. Leonowicz received his B.A., cum laude, from Kalamazoo College in
2008 and his J.D., cum laude, from
University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2012, where he was President of
the Student Bar Association, Vice-President of Sports and Entertainment Law
Association and a member of the Law Review. He is licensed to practice in the
States of Michigan and Illinois as well as before the U.S. District Court for
the Eastern District of Michigan and the Northern District of Illinois. Mr.
Leonowicz serves his community by, among other things, serving as a volunteer
for the Pat Tillman Foundation.
