“I use my business insight to craft uniquely tailored intellectual property strategies for my clients.”
Dave focuses his practice in intellectual property. In particular, Dave’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, portfolio management & analytics, patentability investigations, clearance investigations, landscape investigations, reviewing and preparing various license agreements, and opinions. Dave has become the go to attorney for all things related to computers and software.
In addition to counseling clients on the above-mentioned intellectual property areas, Dave advises clients with respect to open-source licenses. He has an in-depth understanding of various open-source licenses and works alongside clients to create compliance strategies that optimize intellectual property rights.
While a student, Dave served as a patent extern at the Midwest Regional Office of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). His experience at the USPTO included conducting patentability searches and preparing office actions. This experience helps him prepare stronger patents that will withstand the rigorous standards followed by USPTO examiners.
Prior to pursuing a career in intellectual property, Dave served as director of operations for a local title agency. His experience in this role affords him a high-level understanding of the inner workings of businesses at the executive level, and the processes they follow to ensure their business is conducted as efficiently as possible. He also understands the unique challenges of small businesses as they seek to use limited resources to accomplish a strategic business plan.
