Mr. Howard concentrates his practice in assisting financial institutions maximize their returns from special assets through transactional documentation and litigation in state and bankruptcy court.
has successfully resolved numerous multi-million dollar non-performing loans for
many community banks. Mr. Howard also is developing a regulatory practice
advising the incipient marijuana industry. He frequently publishes articles on the evolution of the often contradictory
regulatory framework for state and federal marijuana laws. Prior to joining Howard & Howard, he
published a book on the history of the marijuana laws. He has lectured and presented on the
conflicts of law marijuana businesses face in their operations.
Outside of his practice, Mr. Howard has developed
several websites and various software applications. He is expanding his practice area into
corporate immigration by developing software to streamline and optimize the
work visa application process and to assist in visa management.
Before beginning his career with Howard & Howard, Mr. Howard worked as an
associate with another law firm where he gained experience in creditors’
rights, bankruptcy, consumer collections, mechanic’s liens and mortgage
Mr. Howard received his B.A. from Illinois Wesleyan University in
2002 and his J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 2008. After
completing law school he earned his Series 7 & 66 securities licenses and
briefly worked as a stock broker.
Mr. Howard is admitted to practice in the States of Illinois and
Wisconsin as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District
of Wisconsin, plus the Central, Northern, and Southern Districts of Illinois. He is a
member of the American, Illinois State and Peoria County Bar Associations. He
is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Standing Committee on
Mental Health Law, Judicial Evaluations outside of Cook County, and Commercial
Collections, Banking and Bankruptcy.
