Ms. Gretchko concentrates her practice in creditors' rights and commercial litigation.
She has represented nearly every constituency in bankruptcy courts around the country, including secured creditors, unsecured creditors' committees, landlords, licensors of intellectual property, customers, suppliers, business debtors and trustees, and has litigated many of the issues which arise in the context of bankruptcy law. Ms. Gretchko has also lectured extensively for many organizations on various creditors' rights issues. Additionally, she has experience in real estate litigation.
Ms. Gretchko received a B.A., with honors, from the University of Michigan in 1976 and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Detroit, where she was awarded the National Order of the Barrister and an elected member of the Justice Frank Murphy Honor Society. In addition, Ms. Gretchko was an associate editor of the University of Detroit's Journal of Urban Law. As a recent adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School, she taught Bankruptcy Law and Creditors' Rights.
Ms. Gretchko is on the Board of Directors of the American Bankruptcy Institute, an Executive Editor of its monthly publication, The American Bankruptcy Institute Journal, and a former co-chair of its Unsecured Trade Creditors Committee (2014 Committee Person of the Year). She is also a member of the Business Law Advisory Board for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Ms. Gretchko is a former council member and secretary of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, former chair of the Oakland County Bar Association Creditors’ Rights Committee, and a former member of the Advisory Committee of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Ms. Gretchko has been designated a Michigan Super Lawyer 2006 - 2016 (Top 100 Michigan Lawyers – 2012-2014; Top 50 Michigan Women Lawyers – 2008-2014; and Top 25 Michigan Women Business Lawyers – 2013 & 2014) and was named to “The Best Lawyers in America” 2012-2017. In 2011, Michigan Lawyers Weekly recognized her as a Women in the Law honoree. She has written and lectured extensively for many organizations on various bankruptcy and creditors' rights issues.
